Two day training programme on National Electoral Roll Purification (NERP)organised by District Election Officer Kathua concluded here today.The training was attended by AEROS, AROs, ALMTs and Booth Level Officers BLOs from across the district.In his address, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Kathua Ramesh Kumar urged upon the officials to ensure error-free electoral rolls, inclusion of left out electorates, rectification of double EPIC electors and other duplicities in mission mode by effective use of technology. He also called for rationalizing the boundaries of polling stations for removing the errors.The DEO impressed upon all the BLOs to submit, if any, proposal for creation/modification of polling station on the basis of BMF to the concerned EROs/AEROs for onward submission. He further asked BLOs to go door to door for collection and verification of data.
He instructed AEROs and BLOs to involve panchayat representatives and political parties for successful conduct of NERP drive. “Political parties can be requested to appoint booth level agents to coordinate with BLOs for smooth implementation of the program” he said. He said BLOs shall motivate youth to constitute booth level awareness groups which can further assists them in mass awareness. Earlier, Deputy District Electoral Officer Chand Kishore through a Power- Point presentation explained to the participants Do’s and Don’ts to be followed in data collection, verification and purification of the electoral rolls. He enlightened them on all the aspects of electoral roll preparation and asked the BLOs to physically verify the electoral rolls in the villages and at booth levels.Programme was attended by AEROs of Kathua, Basholi, Billawar, Bani and Hiranager besides AROs of Billawar, Rajpura, Kathua, Bani and BLOs of all the polling stations of Kathua district.
