The hopes of being released on bail of the accused who were caught red handed a few months ago desecrating the saroops(copies) of the holy Guru Granth Sahib in Ramdivali Muslamana village of Amritsar, dashed to ground when Amritsar Rural Police after due approval of Home Department , today produced the challan against them in the hon’ble court of Mrs. Navdeep Kaur Gill S.D.J.M ,Baba Bakala Sahib.Disclosing this , the inspector in charge of police station Mattewal, Mukhtiar Singh informed that in middle of night on March 12, 2016 at village Ramdivali Musalmana, the accused Prem Singh alias Titu s/o Ratan Singh, Shamsher Singh Shera s/o Lakhwinder Singh and Raju Masih alias Rajan s/o Kunan Masih, residents of Ramdivali Musalmana in connivance broke open the door of Gurdwara Baba Jiwan Singh Ji, located in the same village and after stealing the cash, they desecrated the saroops of the holy Guru Granth Sahib and other religious literature and material.
The accused were arrested and sent to jail on 12 / 3/2016. trial was sent. The accused did not expect the challan to be presented in 90 days and do not wait for the invoice within 90 days and were trying to come out on bail with the support of arguments of their lawyers.But their hopes dashed to ground when the under the directions of SSP Amritsar Rural , Mr. Jasdeep Singh Saini, the police from PS Mattewal after completing the required legal formalities (prosecution) on June 7, 2016 against the accused, presented the challan in the hon’ble court of Mrs. Navdeep Kaur Gill S.D.J.M ,Baba Bakala Sahib and hearing has begun on the case .SHO Mukhtiar Singh said that approval to present challan in cases of desecration needs to be obtained from State Home Department and the same has been timely provided by the department.
