Terming the government policies regarding the Sainik and Pandit colonies as ambiguous and doubtful, Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani said that to understand and observe all the aspects of this issue, the pro-freedom leadership are jointly organizing a daylong seminar on 12 June Sunday while as on 15 June Tuesday, a joint silent protest demonstration will be held at Lalchowk Srinagar which will be attended by the people related to all walks of life. He appealed the Immams of the Masjids to raise their voices against the continuous illegal detention of Mohammad Yasin Malik, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Mohammad Shafi Lone, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Masarat Alam Bhat, Hafiz Bashir Ahmad Farooqi, Mohammad Yousuf Lone, Ameer Hamzah Shah, Mir Hafizullah, Mufti Abdul Ahad, Master Ali Mohammad Bandipora, Ashiq Hussain Sofi, Nasir Abdullah, Mohammad Amin Parray and Manzoor Ahmad Ganai in their 10th June Friday sermons and aware the public about the wicked designs of the RSS and the Sangh Parivar. In a statement issued to KNS, Syed Ali Geelani while rejecting the clarifications of the Mehbooba Mufti, said that there is no doubt in this fact that this lady is extending her every possible help in the implementation of RSS agendas in Kashmir. The main objective of these agendas is to change the demographic character of the state and to gradually convert the Muslim majority into minorities. For this purpose the work have already started and the state subject certificates to the West Pakistan Refugees are being secretly issued and the doors have been opened to settle the non-locals in the Jammu region in the name of Dogra certificates. Syed Ali Geelani said that as far as the issue of construction of Sainik and Pandit colonies in the Kashmir Valley is concerned, there are no clear indications till now by the government that whether they are abandoning this project or not.

The statements of the government inside and outside the Assembly in this regard are ambiguous and doubtful. The issue of Sainik colonies is being attributed to the previous government and with regarding to the Pandit colonies, Mehbooba Mufti has said on the floor of the house that sending them to their respective places would be like throwing “Pigeons in front of Cats” so transit colonies would be constructed for them. Hurriyat (G) chairman said that the policy makers of New Delhi are firm over their decision of Pandit and Sainik colonies but due to the pressure of the public resentment, the state government is following the variegate policies in this regard. Syed Ali Geelani cautioned that until the Kashmiri people are assured in this regard and the proposal of Pandit and Sainik colonies is abandoned, the pro-freedom leadership will continue to raise their voice in every possible ways and will gather a public consensus in this regard. He said that to hold a intellectual discussion on this issue, we have decided to held a joint seminar at Hyderpora on 12 June Sunday in which besides the pro-freedom leaders, the civil society members will also express their view point over the topic “Separate Colonies and the Ambiguous Policies of the Government”. Syed Ali Geelani said that all the pro-freedom leaders will held a silent protest demonstration at Lalchowk on 15 June Tuesday in which people related to all walks of life will participate. He said that the process of peaceful protest demonstrations will continue till the government will not clearly assure the public about the abandoning of the proposals of Sainik and Pandit colonies. While strongly condemning the continuous imprisonment of Mohammad Yasin Malik and the other pro-freedom leaders, Geelani Sahab said that these undemocratic actions do not scare us. Imprisonment is a vital part of the career of Pro-freedom leaders and it gives them new strength to fight the oppression. (KNS)
