Minister for Forests and Ecology Choudhary Lal Singh Tuesday said that Gujjar and Bakerwals are living in a pathetic condition and the government will not stop them from grazing their cattle and sheep in forests.“Gujjar and Bakerwal are important section of our society. No Gujjar and Bakerwal will be stopped from grazing cattle and sheep in forest areas,” Singh said in Lower House today in the ongoing Budget session.“They will have complete rights to graze their cattle on forest land. No one will be disturbed,” the minister said while speaking during the Discussion and Voting of the demands for Grants for Forest and Ecology departments.“The Gujjar-Bakerwal community should be a debated as a matter of rich and poor. They are living in a pathetic condition. Trucks should be provided to them for ferrying their cattle and sheep,” the minister said.The minister said that his preference will be to save forests and environment. (KNS)
