Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Issues Instructions Regarding Transfers

In a communiqué to all the Financial Commissioners, Administrative Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Heads of the departments, Managing Directors and Chairpersons of the Boards/Corporations, Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners, the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab has instructed to ensure that those officer/employee, who had been shifted from any constituency on the basis of complaint in the year 2012 & 2014, must not be placed in the same district wherein a complaint against him/her had been received.

CEO further informed that during the previous elections, complaints had been received against some officers/officials alleging them playing biased role in favour of a particular candidate or party. He said that after the investigation, the election commission has transferred such officers/employees found indulged in such unethical practices. He said that now the election commission is closely monitoring every aspect of election paraphernalia to ensure free and fair conduct of general election of Punjab Vidhan Sabha in year 2017.Election Commission further directed that during the general transfer period of 2016, the instructions of the Election Commission of India must also be adhered to and any officer, who had completed consecutive 3 years of service in the last 4 years in a particular district must be transferred out to another district.
