District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Niraj Kumar today stressed on taking concrete measures for better traffic regulation and improving sanitation condition in the city areas.He was speaking at a meeting of Civil and Police officers convened to review the measures put in place for Traffic management and curbing traffic violations besides proper disposal of the garbage and sold waste to improve sanitation condition in urban areas.Detailed discussions were held on issues including removal of encroachments, traffic jamming and Sanitation. Issues related to illegal parking and dumping of garbage were also discussed in the meeting.The meeting decided to deploy volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra to assist traffic police in regulation of vehicular movement at major crossings in the city. The meeting also decided to designate minibus stops to minimize de-congest traffic on busy roads.
Regarding disposal of garbage, the DC directed the CEO MC Udhampur to identify easily accessible and suitable dumping sites. He further asked the CEO Municipal Committee to identify the registered street vendors (rehri walas) and renew their licenses if required. It was also decided that all the street vendors would be asked to carry their identity cards as well as their licenses with them. The DC also emphasized on the AADHAR seeding of the street vendors.
