Crime Branch starts investigation in fraudulent transfer of Wakf land

Crime Branch Kashmir has registered an FIR and started investigation against a person for allegedly transferring Wakf land into his name by way of fraud and forgery.

In a statement issued today, SSP Crime Branch stated that it received  a complaint from Secretary J&K Board for Muslim Specified Wakf Properties alleging that the Board rented out a Wakf building comprising a residential house to one Amir  Ahmed Khan , a resident of Wazir Bagh Srinagar (as a licensee) in 2003. However the person managed fictitious entries in revenue records in respect of the said property in his name, thereby resorting to fraud, forgery and cheating and also made efforts to grab the wakf property.The Crime Branch in its preliminary investigation found that the accused has an agreement as licensee through a license deed and at the same time claims ownership of the property.

Following the preliminary investigation, Crime Branch Kashmir registered an FIR No.31/16 and has started investigation in the matter.The SSP Crime Branch said that divergent stands taken by the suspect and subsequent change in revenue records and that too in violation of rules prima-facie demands in-depth investigation. According to the investigation, the suspect is found to have paid the rent due to him as per the agreement and the land was rerecorded as AbadiDeh till 2008 in the revenue records. However, an entry viz the property has been made in 2009 suggesting the suspect as possessor of the property, the SSP said.
