Dilapidated roads irk Kupwara residents

'Authorities fail to redress sufferings of people'

Worried about the bad condition of many roads here in the frontier district, the residents have appealed the concerned authorities to macadamize main as well as other link roads as they were lying in dilapidated condition for past several years.While expressing their problems, the residents of Kupwara said the bad condition of roads become a nuisance especially during rains.They said roads like Kupwara-kalarooch road,Chokibal-Tangdar Road, Lolab road, Kupwara-Nagri, Muqaam Shawali road, Kupwara-Srinagar Highway and other link roads in main town Kupwara were in bad condition and administration was not doing anything."The roads are in so much damaged that rainfall leaves no way for us to walk on as long strips of numerous roads turn into heaps of mud,"Suhail Ahmad , a resident said.

Aijaz Ahmad, a college student from Chokibal said, “We face lot of problems while going to college because of bad condition of roads. We usually reach college late for taking lectures as a Half Hour distance takes us more than one and half an hour.”Showket Masoodi, civil Society Convenor said, “Half year has passed and R&B department is playing hide and seek game he also added that the dilapidated roads have made us accident prone and appealed to the authorities to look into their grievances and take steps for their early redressed.
