Scores of people on Wednesday staged massive protests after a teacher allegedly molested a school girl in Kowai Bagh village of Pulwama district in south Kashmir.
According to GNS correspondent, a teacher namely Mukhtar Ahmad at Government Middle School in Kowai Bagh area of Kakapora in Pulwama allegedly molested a girl student of 8th class (name withheld) inside the school on Tuesday and against which locals of the area staged massive protests. As per locals, the accused teacher molested the girl inside the school.The protesters while lashing out at the accused said that other teachers of the school are ‘backing up even as he has committed a heinous crime’. “This is highly shameful that the nation builders are standing in support of a molester. The government should take action against all of them and ensure that the accused teacher is terminated from his service,” they added.
When contacted, a police official said that the accused teacher has been arrested and lodged in Pulwama police station. “We have registered a case under FIR no. 196/2016 under section 376, 511, 356 B RPC against him and started investigation,” he said. Sources meanwhile said that the Education Department has placed the accused under suspension and started probe at the level of the Department.Meanwhile, CEO Pulwama Abdul Khaliq said an inquiry has been ordered and two senior masters has been appointed to probe the incident."I immediately suspended Mukhtar Ahmad Mir was and attached him with ZEO office Awantipora", CEO said.(GNS)
