Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr. Sham Choudhary today informed the House that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Rs. 17.62 crore for modernization of Ari Canal /Sindh Extension Canal has been approved under AIBP adding that there is no proposal for tunneling of Sindh Extension Canal from Beehama to Phaq area with the Government.Replying to a question by Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, the Minister informed that the clearance of the nallah falling within the premises of Khirbhawani temple has been put to tenders and work would start very soon after the requisite formalities are completed.The Minister said that DPRs for augmentation of dewatering stations Shallbugh and Gogji Gund have been prepared under PMKSY programme, while as the DPR for Gadoora dewatering station is under process adding that the works would be taken up as soon as the DPRs are approved and funds made available by the Centre.

The Minister said that the DPR for upgradation of Zazna Lift Irrigation Scheme has been prepared for an amount of Rs. 85.90 lakhs under PMKSY programme while as the DPRs for Zazna Lift Irrigation Scheme Narian Bagh and Raipora are under process.The Minister further said that for the construction of protection bunds on the embankments of Sindh nallah at various places, DPRs of Rs. 75 crore were formulated and cleared by State Technical Advisory Committee adding that the project could not be submitted to the Centre for funding due to the change in the guidelines under Flood Management Programme by Union Ministry of Water Resources.
