Taking forward the initiative of Swachh Bharat Mission and to bring India's spiritual and heritage places under its ambit, the Union Ministries of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Culture, Urban Development and Tourism Tuesday organised a joint video conference with concerned Union Secretaries and Chief Secretaries of States.Chief Secretary, Mr B R Sharma also participated in the joint video conference.Prominent spiritual and heritage places in the States of J&K, Maharashtra, UP, Andra Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Odisha came up for discussion in the meeting for coverage under the Swachh Bharat Mission.Chief Secretary presented a brief account of the sanitation and Solid Waste Management plans put in place in and around the spiritual and heritage places in J&K including Hazratbal Shrine, Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, Hemis and Thiksey Monastery and others.He said J&K Government along with the concerned Shrine Boards/Committees have been looking after sanitation around spiritual and heritage places. He said now as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, State Government will be looking into other additional activities that can be taken up or planned for improving the overall ambiance of these places.
