The Minister for Technical Education & Youth Service and Sports, Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari, today informed the house that under the centrally sponsored scheme ‘Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan’ construction of indoor and outdoor sports complex’s where envisaged in each block of all the rural districts of the State including the blocks of District Kishtawar.However, he said the scheme was later revamped as ‘Khelo India’ by Government of India, as such the construction of sports infrastructure at Kishtawar district shall be examined in the new scheme once the operational guidelines of the scheme are issued by GOI. The Minister was replying to a question raised by Mr. Firdous Ahmad Tak in the upper house of the legislature today. The Minister further informed the House that in 2009 the Deputy Commissioner Kishtawar had identified 75 kanals and 1 Marla of land at village Lanyal in Kishtawar for the construction of Sports stadium there. He said though the notification has been issued, Rs 12 crore is required as land compensation for the same.Mr. Ansari said that as per the standing policy, stadia are developed where ever free of cost land is available as the land compensation is not covered in the scheme.
