Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq Khan today stressed on improvement of basic amenities in the rural areas through convergence mode.

The Minister was speaking after laying the foundation stone for development of Shama Chak in Marh block as Model Village. The model village project which would include upgradation of basic amenities and creation of modern infrastructure including establishment of Information Centre, community centre upgradation of lanes and drains will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.50 crore.MLA Marh, Sukhnandan Kumar was also present at the foundation laying ceremony.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the Government is committed to ensure enhanced facilities to the people in every nook and corner of the state.

Highlighting the rural development schemes, including the Model Village project, the Minister said that the priority of Government is to improve sanitation, construct lanes and drains, community facility centres, playgrounds, rural information centres and Anganwari centres in the villages of the state. He said the government has stressed on dovetailing of different schemes and creation of assets through convergence mode.Sukhnandan Kumar appreciated the steps being taken by the Government for improving living standard in the rural areas of the state.Among others present were Director Rural Development, Jammu, ML Raina, BDO, Marh Tara Singh, Panchs and Sarpanchs of the area.
