The Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today cautioned Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to refrain from defaming Punjab in the name of drug abuse. She said that whosoever will try to tarnish the image of state on issue of drugs, without any evidence, will face strict action and would be brought in the court of people. After conducting sangat darshan programs at villages Bhagu, Phoos Mandi and Dhan SIngh Khana along with former MP Mrs Paramjit Kaur Gulshan, the Union Minister said that defaming Punjab for petty political gains will not be tolerated. Answering a media query, Mrs Badal said that first the COngress leader Rahul Gandhi tried to defame Punjab in context of drug abuse and now walking on his footsteps. the AAP too has started making hollow claims of drug abuse in state.
The Union Minister said that initiating its war agianst drugs, the state government has come out with many positiv results. She said that the wrong propaganda being run by Congress and AAP has been exposed. She added that the sole motive of these parties was to give political color to this issue and take over the reins of state whereas as a matter of fact the Punjab police has created records by confiscating drugs wherein in 80 percent of cases accused have been conducted. She added that the intoxicants are not grown in Punjab and the business is ran across the borders and being located on international border it is being used as a transit route. She said that instead of raising wrong allegations on Punjab, the AAP leaders should ask its convener and the CM Delhi Arvind Kejriwal to come out with a policy for putting an end to drugs in the capital Delhi.When asked about the claims of opposition of forming government in state, the Union Minister Mrs Badal said that Congress and AAP should stop day dreaming. She added that both the parties will face debacle in 2017 elections as the wise people of Punjab know the difference between good and bad. She said that the Chief Minister Mr Parkash SIngh Badal was the only saviour of Punjab and Punjabis who has taken Punjab to the heights of unprecedented development.Mrs Badal said that Akali Dal-BJP alliance has ushered in unprecedented development in state in the last nine years and the opposition will not be able to gain roots in the storm of development. She added that the alliance will record its hat trick victory.Earlier Mrs Badal gave nod to giving Rs 56 lacs for repairs of 6 kms road to village Bhagu and another Rs 22 lacs for developmental works. Giving nod to Rs 20 lacs developmental works in village Phoos Mandi she said that there was no dearth of funds. She also conducted sangat darshan of villages Gulabgarh and Gehri Bhagi at Katar Singh Wala.Deputy Commissioner Dr Basant Garg, OSD Mr Mohnish Kumar, Mr Sukhman Sidhu, Dr Om Prakash Sharma and others were also present.
