Deputy Chairman Legislative Council, Jahangir Hussain Mir alongwith a team of DIET experts today visited various schools of Poonch to assess the academic standards, mid day meals (MDM) and functioning of government schools.During the surprise visit to HS Chandak and GMS Jallian, the team members took stock of MDM, sanitary conditions of kitchen and the academic performance of students which were quite satisfactory. The DIET team appreciated the efforts of the Headmasters and staff members of both the schools and assured them full cooperation in further streamlining of functioning of these institutes. The team suggested some remedial measures for bringing more positive results and overall development of these schools. The Deputy Chairman also donated one electric water cooler for HS Chandak and 50 desks alongwith 50 baby chairs for GMS Jallian out of his constituency development fund.

Meanwhile, at High School Sathra, the team expressed serious concern over the unhygienic condition of the kitchen and sub-standard mid day meal, dilapidated laboratory and classrooms and poor academic response from students.
