Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, today convened an officers meeting here to held detailed deliberation on Draft Master Plan-2032 of Jammu city.Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga, MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma, MLA Bishnah Kamal Arora, MLA Samba Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, MLC Ramesh Arora, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Simrandeep Singh, Deputy Commissioner Samba Sheetal Nanda, Vice Chairman JDA Mubarak Singh and officers of various concerned departments were present in the meeting.VC JDA briefed the meeting about the broad contours of the draft Master Plan and highlighted various important issues envisaging further streamlining of this ambitious plan.It was informed that the area of Jammu Master Plan 2021 was 305 square kilometers but the same has been increased to 652.32 square kilometers under the revised Master Plan with estimated population of Jammu at 20.50 lakh by 2032.

On the occasion, Kavinder Gupta stressed for synchronized action from all stakeholders so that a perfect pro-people plan comes out with enhanced basic services. He exhorted upon the concerned departments that all major changes which are to be incorporated in the new Master Plan should be properly re-examined strictly in accordance with the law.It was given out that the present revised Master Plan for Jammu city has been conceived to underline the vision of developing Jammu as a planned metropolis focusing on planned development, preservation of historic city, rejuvenation of urban environment, eradication of problems of transportation, housing, adaptive mixed use policy and appropriate provision of social and physical infrastructure.

The meeting decided that adequate roads and flyovers, sewerage system, setting up of effluent treatment plants, waste management, construction of same-sized buildings, markets and institutions and proper use of detailed area plan be ensured in draft.Referring to centre’s keenness of preparation of all master plans with no shortcomings, the Speaker asked for framing GIS based master plan so that an accurate and updated Base Map of the planning area is ensured.Speaking on the occasion, the Industries and Commerce Minister Chander Prakash emphasized for involvement of expert consultants for proper survey of all aspects to be considered in the master plan. He asked to give special attention to inputs coming from all stakeholders so that the plan covers all emerging needs of present times besides meeting people’s aspirations.
