Putting candidate’s future in trouble, Institute of Banking and Personnel Selection (IBPS) barred an aspirant from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district to appear in online examination of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for the post of Officer Grade A and B on as his cast was missing from his call letter.Caring little about candidate’s future, Saleem Anwar Bhat from Bahadurpora, Handwara, was not allowed to appear in preliminary examination for recruitment of Officer Grade A and B as his last caste (Bhat) was not mentioned in the call letter.
Bhat while talking to KNS said that he was scheduled to appear in online examination of NABARD (Officer Grade A) conducted by IBPS on 15 May of this year at Government polytechnic college for women Bemina Srinagar.“Soon after I reached the examination centre, the staff on duty including a female officer checked my call letter and other Identity proofs including PAN card and election card and driving licence,” adding that the call letter which he downloaded from NABARD website had carried his name as Saleem Anwar and the female staff on examination duty objected by saying in ID proofs his name is written as Saleem Anwar Bhat while in call letter his name is mentioned as Saleem Anwar.“On such bizarre ground, I was not allowed to appear in the examination hall. I pleaded before them to allow me to sit in the examination but to no avail.”Bhat told KNS that he requested the officials to check his photographs on ID proofs as well as the other particulars but they didn’t even bother to check his photographs to make his identity clear.
“I pleaded before them for almost half an hour but the staff didn't listen to me and asked me to leave,” he said.He said that he tried to contact IBPS officials via helpline number given on their official website but unfortunately the office was closed as it was Sunday. “My preparation and time got wasted but nobody paid any heed to it,” he said.
