Worried about the bad condition of main road between Bandipora to Sumbal in north Kashmir, the residents have appealed the concerned authorities to repair and macadamise the road.Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), people said that the condition of road is dilapidated and unmotorable.They alleged that the officials of the department concerned are not directing the contractors to expedite the construction work on this road.Mohammad Maqbool, local resident, told KNS that due to bad condition of road and lack of proper drainage system, the commuters are facing trouble. This problem manifolds during rainy season, thus making roads accident prone, he said.“Due to pathetic condition of the road, students and employees face immense hardships to reach their respective destinations.”The residents accused the authorities for not maintaining the road and showing apathy over this issue.The passenger vehicles have suffered damages due to bad condition of the roads.
“Our vehicles have incurred heavy damages due to dilapidated condition of the road,” said Bilal Ahmad, a Sumo driver, told KNS. “Majority of the drivers avoid plying vehicles on this road as a result of which passengers have to bear the brunt.”“We have time and again apprised the authorities about the condition of this road in Bandipora but our requests met with deaf ears,” he added.They however, appealed the District Development Commissioner Bandipora to intervene into the issue and make possible redressal of their problem.“We are on the job. And the issue was discussed in District Development Board meeting today. We have constructed the drain along the road. The road will be repaired and macadamised this year,” Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Sajad Hussain told KNS. (KNS)
