DC Kathua launches “PROTSAHAN” to encourage girl education

District administration Kathua today launched a special initiative  ‘PROTSAHAN’ with an aim to improve female literacy rate involving  multi-stakeholder partnership for  providing  free education to girls in private schools.District Development Commissioner Kathua Ramesh Kumar, said that under the initiative free education will be provided to the girls from below poverty line families in the government recognized private institutes of the district.He said that “PROTSAHAN” is the joint initiative of district administration and private schools which will help to improve girls education in the district with its initial target of benefitting 220 poor girls every year.

While referring to the low sex ratio in the district, DDC said that, district administration has already taken up an initiative “PAHAL” under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme to create mass awareness about the issue.He asked the Chief Education Officer Kathua to constitute a committee comprising members from Government and private schools to scrutinize the eligible cases for the PROTSAHAN initiative.

Threadbare discussions were also held on various other issues pertaining to education and structural reforms, security, fee structure, transportation and other facilities in private schools. DDC laid special emphasis on  appointing trained teachers for providing quality education besides called for  applying innovative teaching methodology for better learning experience .He also emphasized on installing required infra to meet out any exigency like fire, earth quake and any other natural calamity.President Private School association Kathua, G S Katal appreciated the endeavour of district administration to take the first hand appraisal of the issues of private schools and extended full cooperation of the association in the initiative.
