The 7th meeting of Executive Council of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) was held on Saturday at IUST Campus, Awantipora.The meeting was chaired by Vice Chancellor, Prof A.R. Trag.Prof R D Sharma, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu, Prof Javed Musarrat, Vice Chancellor BGSBU Rajouri and the two nominees of Chancellor, Syed Showket Gayoor and Mian Altaf Sarwar attended the meeting.The Council before starting the formal proceeding observed two minutes silence in remembrance of Late Mufti Mohammed Sayeed Chief Minister / Chancellor IUST.Thereafter the proceedings began with Prof. Trag welcoming the new members to the Council. The new members were informed about the progress made by the University on the academic as well as on the infrastructural front so far through a PowerPoint presentation. Prof. Trag gave a detailed account of the academic and other allied activities like seminars, workshops, guest lectures, faculty participations, extra-curricular activities etc. organized by the University.Council was also briefed about the progress made by the University from the last Executive Council meeting.After briefing the members about the University and its functioning, the agenda items were discussed and some important decisions.The Council resolved that the two nursing colleges established by the Waqf Board will be constituent colleges of IUST.
Council was also informed that new Courses namely M.Sc. in Physics and Chemistry and B Tech in Mechanical Engineering already approved by the Executive Council in its last meeting, will be started during the current year.The State Government has already conveyed it’s no objection for giving pensionary benefits to these employees as is existing for such employees in other State Universities.The Council also deliberated upon the proposals of Syed Showkat Gayoor, Member Executive Council, for further development of the IUST.The members placed on record their appreciation for the efforts and contribution of Prof. Trag for the growth and development of the University. The members commended the dynamic and visionary leadership provided by Prof.The members while lauding the growth of the University expressed hope that the University shall continue to grow in future as well.
