Stating that those who are demanding separate colonies for the minorities in Kashmir were enemies of humanity Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin today said such a step couldn’t only prove disastrous for Jammu and Kashmir but to other states of India as well.Addressing a huge public gathering in Khanshaib Budgam he according to the statement issued to KNS said, “People of Kashmir have been fighting against the communal forces right from 1947. When communal riots were happening in the sub-continent in 1947, people of Kashmir proved to world how minorities were safeguarded here by the majority community.”“In the last 25 years also when Kashmiris have been themselves facing the brunt of violence, they ensured the safety of minorities which will be written in golden words in the history,” Hakim Yasin said.

However, he rued, that some forces were trying to divide Kashmiris by announcing separate colonies for Kashmiri Pandit minorities. “By creating separate clusters for KPs wouldn’t only prove disastrous for J&K but for the other states of India. It will be a blot on the communal harmony of Kashmir,” he said. The PDF chief said that PDP-BJP alliance government has failed on every front from the last one year and it is trying to hoodwink the people by issuing statements only. “It has failed on providing employment to lakhs of educated youths of the state and instead is wasting crores of rupees on useless and unproductive schemes. If right approach is adopted to promote tourism in Kashmir and hydel power projects are taken back from the NHPC, it could eradicate the menace of unemployment in the state,” he said.

However, the MLA Khansahib said, unfortunately the Kashmir centric parties in the ruling alliance have made a U-turn immediately after attaining power. “They forget the promises made with the voters during the elections and to keep center in good humor they are making compromises with the interests of people Kashmir,” he said.Hakim Yasin said despite being close to Srinagar and having natural beauty, Doodpathri has been completely ignored by the incumbent government. “Since last one year it seems the area has been abandoned by the government.

The area if developed properly on tourism circuit can provide employment to thousands of unemployed youth of Budgam district,” he said.Stating there are lot many virgin tourist destinations which needed to be exploited to boost tourism in the state, MLA Khansahib, asked the government to widen its tourism promotion strategy beyond the traditional tourism places of Gulmarg and Pahalgam. For this purpose, all the newly created Tourism Development Authorities (TDA) including Doodhpathri TDA should be made fully functional, he asserted. On continuity of Indo-Pak dialogue process, he expressed satisfaction and said that peace in south Asia will elude unless Kashmir issue isn’t settled according to the aspirations of Kashmiris. He said that though PDF wants equal development of all three regions of the state, fact is that Kashmir valley has remained behind in the development compared to Jammu. “When it comes to Kashmir, development exists only on papers which won’t be tolerated for long. People will come on streets against this injustice if it isn’t rectified immediately,” the PDF chief added. (KNS)
