National Conference leaders on Friday described the second and the current spell of PDP-BJP government as a non-starter, saying that except for carrying forward the legacy of developmental cum governance inertia, this dispensation has nothing to offer to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.Addressing the functionaries of District Committee Ramban here this morning, the Provincial Vice President Mr Brij Mohan Sharma said that the coalition does not seem to have learnt lesson from its failure during the first spell of ten months, as the anti poor and anti-youth policies continue to form core of this government.“Where is the government?”, Sharma asked saying that the rural and urbal areas are suffering worse due to misgovernance and lack of vision of the present dispensation. In this context, he referred to the implementation of ill-conceived National Food Security Act and said this has proved detrimental to the interests of poor rationees.Speaking on the occasion, the District President Mr Sajjad Shaheen lambasted PDP for being facilitator to implementation of RSS agenda of its coalition partner BJP, which he described dangerous for the unity and tranquility of the state.

He said brazen attempts are being made to divide the people for furthering petty political agenda and to conceal the failures of the government.Mr Shaheen said National Conference will not allow sinister machinations of the coalition to succeed and will fight tooth and nail the attempts being created to divide people on the basis of region, regilion and caste.Saying that the performance of the present dispensation has been quite dismal, Mr Shaheen added that the impact of the government is zero in rural pockets with infrastructural development and utility services remaining in shambles. He referred to the plight of 2014 flood and rain sufferers and said that the insensitive government has left them in lurch by not paying them any compensation. He said the farmers too have been neglected whose farm produce got totally damaged. Besides, the condition of hand pumps and water pipes laid in rural areas remain unattended, he added.

Former Legislator Dr Chaman Lal also spoke on the occasion and said the failures of the PDP-NJP dispensation have unfolded numerous challenges, which would be met singlemindedly. He said National Conference cannot remain mute spectator to the neglect of people, especially those living in far off and remote areas.Dr Chaman Lal cautioned the government against testing patience of the people and said the problems confronted by them are needed to be addressed on priority. The National Conference leaders urged the cadre to further intensify mass contact programme and highlight the problems at appropriate forums for seeking their redressal. The meeting was attended by the district level functionaries, block presidents, block secretaries, delegates, Sarpanchs, Panchs of the district. Among others Mr Lal Chand Musafir and Ch Mohammed Shafi were also present on the occasion. (KNS)
