Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today condemned the Akalis’ move to set up Khalsa University by grabbing the land of prestigious and heritage Khalsa College of Amritsar and said that under the influence of ‘political hangover’ Badals are operating like private limited company and eyeing to have control on every business and now it is the turn of Education.In-charge of Communication Wing of the AAP Gurpreet Ghuggi said with setting up of the Khalsa University, Badals are trying to undermine the prestige of renowned Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), which is also situated in the holy city of Amritsar. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would oppose the move tooth and nail, they added.Badals and Majithias have no right to grab the land of prestigious institution like Khalsa College, Ghuggi said revealing that a few years back also such an attempt was made by Akalis, but it was scuttled as Badals had to face a stiff protest from every walk of life.  “This is the second attempt to grab the prestigious land by Akalis, as they know it very well that they will be ousted from power after nine months”, Ghuggi vowed.

“Where is the need to set up another private university, adjoining to the prestigious Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), when people are already fed up with the poor standard of primary & higher education in the state?” Ghuggi quipped.Ghuggi said as per the agreement to set up Khalsa University, Khalsa College would not be part of proposed University and existing management to continue to have control on the Khalsa College. “Here a question arises, if setting up of Khalsa University is must for Akalis, why a new management committee should not be constituted for it?” Ghuggi quipped further. It is a sheer misuse of power by Badals and Majithias to grab the properties worth crores of rupees of Khalsa College by setting up Khalsa University, with its control in the hands of Satyajit Singh Majithia, who is father of Punjab Revenue Minister Vikramjit Singh Majithia and union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal and father-in-law of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, Ghuggi claimed. While making a sarcastic remarks on Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Ghuggi said “Badal sahib, this is not an issue of Kitchen affairs of Badal’s or Majithia’s families, for which he as a head of the family is free to take any decision, but it is an issue of the prestige & heritage of Punjab and people will not allow you to loot it”. Ghuggi said that if Badals and Majithias really want to something good for the society then they must establish good government college in the remote area of Punjab to give a chance to the rural youth to study.
