Senior resistance leader and Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelamni, on Monday said New Delhi continues to hatch conspiracies to change the Muslim majority status of Jammu and Kashmir into a minority, and alleged that Islam and Muslims is prime target of Indian state.Addressing a press conference here at his Hyderpora residence after chairing a meeting of his Hurriyat, Geelani said: “RSS and BJP want to convert our Valley of Saints into a Hindu Rashtra. The 7.5 lakh army, five lakh Biharis (Non-State subjects), separate zones for Hindus and West Pakistan refugees are a ploy to make J&K a Hindu Rashtra.”

Referring to the recent row at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Geelani said earlier the college was of State but now majority of students are non-locals after its status was raised at par with other Indian national level colleges. “Now, CET is being changed in to NEET which is another ploy of playing with the Muslim majority status of J&K,” he said. The Hurriyat (G) chairman said that among the terrorist activities across the world, the “state terrorism” is the worst and alleged that US, UK, France, China and India etc are “all committing state terrorism”. These imperialist countries blame Muslims for terrorism only to hide their own anti-human activities,” he said.

The octogenarian leader urged Kashmiri youth to be aware of the “evil plans” of India and said: “We need to strengthen our movement,” he said, “if we are able to safeguard Islam, and our character, we will be successful. He blamed mainstream NC, PDP, PC and CPIM parties responsible for ‘Muslim onslaught’ and said: “they are helping the spread of Hindutva in Kashmir.”Geelani said the “human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir are at all-time high”. “It is irony that mourners and protestors in Handwara episode have been named in FIRs registered by JKP. Five persons were murdered; killers are roaming free; the minor girl has been detained by police; teachers have been suspended, this all signifies that J&K is a police state,” he said.Geelani said the statement of Prime Minister wherein he said Government of India (GoI) was looking at J&K through “Insaaniyat, Jamhooriyat and Kashmiriyat” is farce. “This statement is nothing but deception and they (GoI) want to further their illegal occupation of J&K,” he added.
