Jammu Kashmir Law Minister Abdul Haq Khan Monday said that government terminated the services of Public Prosecutor and Additional Public Prosecutor in Udhampur and Kathua districts on the basis of their non-performance.“The performance of Public Prosecutor Udhampur Naresh Kumar Bhagat and Additional Public Prosecutor Kathua Sunil Singh was not up to the mark. They even didn’t bother to attend the official meetings,” Haq told CNS.Meanwhile a top official from Law Ministry told CNS on condition of anonymity that the services of Public Prosecutor Udhampur was terminated for being lackadaisical in pursuing the criminal case against the zealots who had attacked and killed Kashmiri truck driver Zahid in Udhampur last year. Government had received reports of Mr Bhagat's being "soft" towards the accused during the prosecution that led to shifting of this case to a different trial court in Jammu.

Srinagar, May 2, CNS: A speedy unknown vehicle crushed a sixth class student to death in Hawal area of Shaher-e-Khas on Monday afternoon.The mishap occurred near Zahidpora Hawal when a sixth class student was hit by a speedy vehicle. Shortly after the accident the driver of the vehicle fled from the spot.Police identified the deceased as Aqib Nazir Sheikh a resident of Zahidpora Hawal. “We have registered a case and efforts are on to trace the erring driver,” a police official told CNS.
