Expressing satisfaction over the court directions for holding polls within next six months, the opposition party Sunday said it would strengthen democratic institution in the state.JKPCC chief, Ghulam Ahmad Mir told KNS that he is shocked as despite having democratic system in the state, the court has taken the decision of conducting the Municipal polls in the state.“If the current prevailing situation would continue in the state, the day is not so far when the court will take decision to conduct Parliamentary and Assembly elections,” he said.While welcoming the court decision, Mir said that the government doesn’t dare to appear before people due to which they are making excuses.He said that during the Governor’s rule, NN Vohra directed the authorities to start the process for holding these polls bit soon after the new dispensation took over in the state, the process got delayed by unknown reasons. “I believe that the situation in the state is not well to conduct the polls but the situation is same as it was in previous years during which the polls were conducted,” he said.Provisional president of National Conference (NC), Nasir Aslam Wani while welcoming the court orders and termed it as timely decision.He said that the PDP is not daring to appear before people as they are unhappy with them. “After 2014 deluge, when the people suffered tremendous loss, PDP were demanding immediate conduct of polls. Now, the situation is much better than that time so why does the delay occur in it,” he said.“We are ready for the polls,” he told KNS.Democratic Nationalist Party (DPN) president and former agriculture Minister, Ghulam Hasan Mir welcomed the court decision and said that in Jammu and Kashmir, the various different political parties don’t want democratic institutions to flourish in the state. “People have right to elect their representatives at every level and it is their democratic right and it cannot be snatched,” he said.He told KNS that it is the atmosphere for holding of Municipal and Panchayat polls and his party is ready to participate in them.
