Dr.Charnjit Singh Atwal, Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha attended Mid Year Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) at United Kingdom.The spokesman of the Government said that now, in its 105th year, the Commonwealth exists to develop, promote and support Parliamentarians and their staff to identify benchmarks of good governance and to implement the enduring values of the Commonwealth with Her Majesty.he spokesman further said that the CPA Chairperson Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury MP, Speaker of the Parliament of Bangladesh chaired the meeting with the Executive Committee Members representing the nine regions of the CPA – Africa, Asia, Australia, British Islands & Mediterranean, Canada, Caribbean, Americas & Atlantic, India, Pacific, and South East Asia.
The CPA Vice-Chairperson, Hon. Shirley M. Osborne MLA, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Montserrat and Regional Representative for the Caribbean, Americas and Atlantic Region, the CPA Treasurer, Muntanga MP from Zambia and the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) Chairperson, Rt Hon. Rebecca Kadaga MP, Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda also attended the meetings.
