Government committed to boost cooperative sector- Chering Dorjay

The State Government is committed to revive and promote the   cooperative sector to ensure welfare of the people .This was stated by the Minister for Cooperatives, Mr. Chering Dorjay  during a  seminar organized by the J&K Cooperative Union in collaboration with Cooperative Department on the theme ‘upliftment of cooperative movement in the state’.Registrar Cooperative Department, B.A. Bhat was the guest of honour on the occasion.While speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the initiatives taken by the Union and said that   synergized efforts are needed to revitilize the cooperative societies in the state and make them economically viable. He also stressed on generating awareness to educate people about the basics of cooperative movement.

Registrar Cooperatives also spoke on the occasion and urged the officers of the Department to work with dedication to improve the  functioning of the department.Union members also apprised the Minister about their issues pertaining to enhancement of its grant in aid and package for Multipurpose Development of Cooperative Societies (MDCS) and marketing sector.The minister gave patient hearing to their demands and assured them that the matter would be looked into.Prominent among others who were present on the occasion included Chairman, JCC Bank, Mohinder Singh, Chairman Housing, R.K. Mangoo, retired General, G.S. Jamwal, Tejinder Singh, officers of cooperative department and representatives of the various societies.
