At least 32 villages in Kupwara district are reeling under darkness from April 25 due to the transformer in receiving station not getting repaired from past couple of days.According to the locals, the transformer in Ganapora Rafiabad receiving station developed snag on April 25 due to which 32 villages in the Langate constituency reel under darkness.Accusing the Power Development Department (PDD) officials for ignoring their plights, the villagers here have demanded repair of the transformer at earliest.Villagers told KNS that they are facing tremendous hardships from past three days due to the non-availability of electricity on their villages. “We appealed higher ups several times to look into the matter but nothing has been done in this regard,” they said. They said that their school going children are unable to read due to the non-availability of electricity in their area. The villagers later appealed higher ups to look into the matter and redress their genuine demands soon.
