FC Planning reviews stock position of essential commodities in Ladakh

In order to review the transportation of essential supplies including construction material to Ladakh for the year 2016-17, a meeting was convened  under the chairmanship of Financial Commissioner, Planning and Development Department, Mr B B Vyas here today.Financial Commissioner received brief on the stock position in respect of food grains, petroleum products, LPG, construction material, timber, firewood, and other material.Mr Vyas asked the officers that the adequate amount of material should be dumped in Leh and Kargil before the commencement of Amarnath Pilgrimage and tourist season.The meeting was attended by Secretary CA&PD Shafiq Ahmed Raina, Secretary Transport Department R K Bhagat, Secretary Ladakh Affairs Department, IGP Traffic S A Watali, Director, Stores Procurement Department Amresh Raina, MD SICOP R L Tickoo, MD J K Cements Atul Sharma, AGM FCI    T R Gupta, MD JKSRTC G A Sofi and other concerned senior officers.Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Asgar Samoon, DC Kargil and ADC Leh also attended the meeting through video conferencing.

During the meeting, proposal of supplies for 2016-17 in respect of both Leh and Kargil districts were discussed. The Financial Commissioner directed both the DCs to formulate transportation plan with the involvement of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir so that the supply to the areas would be conducted hassle free.It was decided in the meeting that the movement of trucks carrying essential commodities/material will start from May 1 and IGP Traffic was directed to monitor the vehicular movement on regular basis. Similar directions were given to various agencies involved in supplying essential commodities/material.CA&PD Department informed the Financial Commissioner about the status of present quota of ration lying with the district administrations and said that the proposed quantity of ration will be supplied. The department was directed to ensure the supply of Sugar and K. Oil so that the demand of the administration would be fulfilled.

Mr. Vyas instructed the MD J K Cements to supply the cement to Leh and Kargil as per the demand projected in the proposal. The Forest department was asked to supply timber to the area to match the demand of the administration. Officials of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation assured the chair that they will transport adequate number of LPG cylinders in the area to meet the demand.Mr. B B Vyas also instructed the HPCL officials to resolve the issue of LPG subsidy raised by the ADC Leh.MD JKSTRC was directed to provide adequate number of trucks for the smooth supply of material as per the transportation plan.Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Asgar Samoon assured Financial Commissioner for the regular monitoring of movement of trucks and asked the DC’s Leh and Kargil to remain touch for any other issue if arises pertaining to transportation and other.It was decided in the meeting that the next review meeting will be held on May 1 to discuss stock position.
