Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) and former agriculture minister, Ghulam Hassan Mir on Monday said that the government has failed to implement to waive off 50 per cent of the KCC loans for the smallest and most vulnerable farmers. While addressing party workers during workers convention at Pattan, Mir said that during the last year’s budget session, the government said that they will waive off 50 per cent of the KCC loans for farmer but till date they failed to implement it on ground.Mir pressed upon the government to implement the decision in the next budget session so that the farmers could heave sigh of relief.Former agriculture minister termed the non-implementation of the decision taken by the government as injustice with the farmers.Mir also questioned over the delay caused in initiation of process to conduct Panchayat and Municipal polls. “In absence of elected bodies, I have quit apprehensions that these institutions would be run by civil administration, which is not in the public interest at large,” he said.
Mir pressed the workers that there is need to strengthen the party at gross root level. He emphasized the workers to move door to door and have public contact and apprise the people about the party’s programme to make the state a progressive democratic state.Mir said that the party will be working for the welfare of the people and will always stand against the excesses and injustices of the state administration.“The party will be working to make the people of Jammu and Kashmir to live a life of head high,” he said.He said that unemployment in the state is a cause for concern. “There are ever-lasting numbers of youth who are educated but are unemployed. Government has no proposal to deal with the problem. Government should come up with concrete plan to deal with the unemployment problem,” he said.Meanwhile, DPN’s Provisional president, Abdul Qayoom Wani also addressed workers in the workers convention.
