Punjab Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal has said that a Regulatory Authority to keep a check on private schools of the state is in the offing. He said that he has asked Education Minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema to make sure that the Regulatory Authority starts functioning at the earliest. Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal also said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to nab the killers of Mata Chand Kaur has got a breakthrough and the killers would be arrested soon.Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal said this while attending the functions organised on the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, at Bhadaur House and Daresi areas, here today.

While speaking to the media persons, Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the Punjab government is keeping a close tab on the issue of fleecing of parents by some private schools. He said that the state government would not tolerate this at any cost and that is why, a Regulatory Authority in this regard is in offing and would start functioning soon.On a question related to the killing of Mata Chand Kaur, wife of Satguru Jagjit Singh, of Namdhari Sect, the Deputy CM said that an SIT comprising Commissioner Police Ludhiana Mr. Jatinder Singh Aulakh as Chairman, SSP Khanna Mr. Satinder Singh and AIG (Crime) Mr. Ravcharan Singh Brar both as members has already been formed. He said that the SIT has got breakthrough into the case and that the killers of Mata Chand Kaur would be behind bars soon.Reacting to a question related to Kohinoor diamond, he said that the Kohinoor belongs to all Punjabis and that the Punjab government would make all efforts to bring it back. He said that they would be meeting Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi in this regard very soon and would also take up this matter through diplomatic channels. Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal said that if required, they would also approach the Supreme Court of India regarding this matter.

Taking an aim at Aam Aadmi Party convener and Delhi CM Mr Arvind Kejriwal, the Deputy CM said that Kejriwal’s anti Punjab stand has been exposed over the SYL issue. He said that the Kejriwal and his party has failed on all fronts over providing good governance to the people of Delhi and that is why, even the Punjabi’s have rejected him wholeheartedly. He said that Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh is a failed leader and just like people of Punjab, even the NRI diaspora has rejected him. He said that both Arvind Kejriwal and Capt Amarinder Singh are failed leaders, opportunists and power hungry and Punjabi’s know their real face now.He said that a Bollywood film named Santa Banta has been banned in Punjab as it could have hurt the sentiments of Sikhs. Replying to another question regarding the parole of Prof Davinderpal Singh Bhullar, the Deputy CM said that as per our law, even the prisoners and under trials have their rights and under the same law, they are entitled for parole as well.

While addressing the gathering, the Deputy CM said that several welfare schemes for the betterment of Dalit’s and weaker sections of the society have been started in Punjab and some new schemes would be started shortly. He said that it was only during the tenure of Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party government that the services of more than 12,000 contractual Safai Karamchari’s were regularised. He said that next week, he has called yet another meeting in which all issues related to the Safai Karamchari’s would be taken up.He said that Dr B R Ambedkar was a torch bearer for not only one community but for the entire humanity and society and all of us should learn from his life and contribute for taking the society into the right direction. He said that Dr Ambedkar spent his entire life for bringing equality in the society and people from all communities should learn from his teachings. He said that the Punjab government has chalked out yearlong comprehensive programmes for educating the masses about the teachings of Dr B R Ambedkar.Prominent among those present on the occasion included Mayor Mr Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria, Advisor to CM Mr Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, MLAs Mr Manpreet Singh Ayali, Mr Ranjit Singh Dhillon, former MP Mr Amrik Singh Aliwal, Punjab Traders Board vice chairman Mr Madan Lal Bagga, Mr Vijay Danav, Chaudhary Yashpal, Mr Laxman Dravid, Mr Ashwani Sahota, besides several others.
