The Minister for Education, Naeem Akthar today said that the government would explore the possibility of starting nursery classes in ten schools of Jammu city to cover maximum number of disadvantaged children. The Minister was interacting with the teachers and parents of tiny tots after inaugurating   first of its kind   Kinder Garden here at heritage Government Shri Ranbir Singh Higher Secondary School. The School has dedicated a portion of the heritage building for the Nursery section with all facilities for the children of preschool age.The admission in the Nursery is free for the children coming from BPL families, while others have to pay nominal monthly fee of Rs 50.Terming the opening of the Nursery at the school as a new beginning, he said by this initiative the department can put the vast infrastructure and manpower to a varied use. “By adopting this convergence mode massive infrastructure and manpower in schools can be put to more fruitful  use” he added.

He asked the school administration to become a trendsetter by making this historical institution a real hub of varied educational activities. “You need to put in extra efforts, go beyond the traditional methods, engage with the children at their level to raise their learning abilities and develop their overall personality” he told the teachers. He hoped that the children who would step out after completing the pre-school from the this Kinder Garden will not be lacking in any manner from those who study in similar institutes run in private   sector.“ You have to put in dedicated efforts and imbibe lot of confidence and develop mannerism in these children who  have come from less educated families and make them like your own children in all respects only then the purpose of opening this nursery will be served in real sense” he asked the teachers. He called for involving fresh minds in the Kinder Garden and other activities adding that this institution has to become the torchbearer    for rest of schools of the region.
