The demolition of residential houses on Pandit land sparked a protest here while the owners of these houses claimed that they had been cultivating this land since 1990 and had sought proper permission from the real owners of the cultivable land. The locals from Kralpora Chadoora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district assembled in Press Enclave here and staged a protest against district administration for razing their concrete residential structures to ground. “District Administration demolished our houses without any prior notice. Without ascertaining the facts and talking to the real owners of the land, the administration didn’t only harass us but also made us homeless,” a protester Fayaz Ahmed Ganaie told CNS.

The protesters said that after their migration from Kashmir, the land owners Mohan Lal and Rajinder Koul requested us to take care of their cultivable land. “From last 26 years, we have cultivating this land and due share was given to owners. After seeking their permission, we constructed two houses there, but the administration demolished them. It is injustice towards us, at least the administration should have talked to the owners of the land first,” they said. When contacted, Tehsildar Chadoora said that he will look into the matter. “There were directions from the administration to demolish illegal structures that have come up on State Land. We will find out who the real owners of the land is,” he said. (CNS)
