The Punjab Transport Minister, Jathedar Ajit Singh Kohar today reviewed the functioning of the department.According to an official spokesman, in a meeting held here at Punjab Bhawan, the minister was apprised of the fact that during the year 2015-16, the income of the department increased to the level of Rs. 464 crore while the expenditure accrued witnessed the decline to the tune of Rs. 426 crores. During 2015-16, the PRTC made an operating profit of Rs. 38 crore whereas it was Rs. 27 crore during 2014-15.The spokesman further said that the minister appreciated the fact that the income of the department has witnessed an increase after addition of new buses to the fleet of already existing ones but exhorted the departmental officials to work even harder to make the profit growing.The Minister on this occasion said that the officials of the department must work with full devotion and diligence to the make the working of the department more transparent in order to provide better travelling facilities to the people.On the occasion, Principal Secretary Transport Mr. R. Venkatratnam, Managing Director PRTC Mr. Ravinder Singh, Director State Transport Mr. Ashwani Kumar and General Managers of the PRTC, PUNBUS and Punjab Roadways in the state were also present.
