Governor Acharya Devvrat said that service of mankind and society was the best service and everybody should come forward for betterment of humanity.He was chief guest on the occasion of 42nd annual convention of “ Himotkarsh Sahitya Sanskriti Avam Jankalyan Parishad’’.Padamshree Vijay Chopra presided over the function.The Governor said that “Himotkarsh” was rendering great service in field such as girl child education and providing helping hand to widows and destitute. He expressed hope that the organization would keep on doing this great service in future also.Acharya Devvrat said that it was vital for the youth to keep away from drug abuse. He said that youths were future of any nation and the most vital component of our society. He also urged the people to come forward in preserving pollution free environment of the State. He also laid stress on organic farming besides raring indigenous cows. He expressed happiness over effective implementation of save girl child, girl child education and for taking effective steps in preserving indigenous cattle by the district administration.The Governor honoured 7 dignitaries, who had excelled in different fields with Himotkarsh National Integration Award on the occasion.
The Governor also provided gold medal, certificates and memento to 98 meritorious students of Himachal Pradesh University. Chaudhary Sarvan Kumar Agriculture University, Palampur, Dr. Y.S. Parmar, Horticulture and Forestry University, Nauni, Technical University Hamirpur and H.P. Board of School Education Dharamshala. Meritorious poor students of 8th, 9th and 10th standard were also provided cash scholarship on the occasion. Apart from it, 179 students from Una District were provided Rs. 1,53,200 as cash scholarship.Chairman of the Himotkarsh Parishad ,Kanwar Hari Singh welcomed the chief guest and detailed various activities being taken by the Parishad.MLA Una Shri Sat Pal Satti, MLA Kutlehar Shri Virender Kanwar, Chairman Nagar Parishad Una Shri Amarjot Singh Bedi, former MLA Shri O.P. Rattan, Deputy Commissioner Shri Yonus, S.P. Shri Anupam Sharma were present on the occasion amongst others.
