Opposition National Conference Thursday lashed out at the ruling PDP over the killings of four civilians by forces in Handwara in Kupwara district, and not “allowing” its leaders to visit the bereaved families to offer condolence.NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar told KNS that the government and police didn’t allow the party leaders to travel towards Handwara.Sagar and other NC leaders including MLA Sonawari Mohammad Akbar Lone, NC provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, former minister Saifullah Mir and MLC Kaiser Jamsheed Lone were not allowed to move towards Handwara.“The government stopping us from visiting the families to pay condolence and solidarity with the, speaks volumes about the ruling PDP as to what it says when out of power and what it is doing when in power,” Sagar told KNS.“When we were in government, we facilitated the visits of politicians to the bereaved families, but PDP is doing politics by not allowing us,” he said. The NC leader said that the “cold blooded murders of the four civilians are the first gifts” of the PDP to the people of Kashmir.“Today, the whole government machinery is busy in preparations for the visit of the chief minister to Handwara tomorrow. Now the PDP is making political gains out of the human tragedies and cold blooded murders,” he said. (KNS)
