Punjab police Tuesday claimed to have solved the murder case of Maqsood Shah, a resident of Kupwara in north Kashmir who was found murdered in the state last week.Deputy Superintendent of police (DSP) Ravinder Pal Singh of Shahkote in Jalandhar district of Punjab province while addressing a press conference said cops have arrested three accused, Abdul Rashid Khawaja son of Mohammad Yousf Khawaja, a resident of Thandipora Muqam in Kupwara, Manjeet Singh alias Mandeep of Nakodar, Shahkote and Amandeep Singh alias Amna of Shahkot. He said on April 9 (Saturday), the police Station Mehatpur found Maqsood’s body at a dam near village Parjian Kalan after which an FIR No. 48/2016 under section 302, 201 IPC was registered and investigation started.

The body had violence marks on the face and neck, the DSP said according to GNS.Maqsood hailed from Kupwara but lived in Malsian village on rent basis and was earning livelihood by doing shawl business.“The analysis of call records led to the zeroing in on Abdul Rashid which later led two more arrests of Mandeep and Amandeep.”Accordingly, Abdul Rashid was arrested and his confession led to the recovery of the weapons used by the accused for committing the crime, which had been thrown away after the murder in the dam at Parjian Kalan.Meanwhile, the DSP said that after making all legal formalities, a police team is being sent to Kashmir's Kupwara district to make more arrests.
