Minister for Health & Medical Education Bali Bhagat Tuesday chaired a high level meeting to review the functioning of district hospitals, Sub district Hospitals, Primary Health centers, Community Health Centers as well as National Health  Mission at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar.Minister of State for Health, Ms Asiea Naqash was also present.The Meeting was informed about the patients treated at various hospitals besides surgeries, deliveries, ultrasound, X Rays conducted during the financial year 2015-16 besides referral system as well as expenditure in each district of Jammu division.The meeting was attended by Secretary Health & Medical Education, Mr M K Bandari, Director Health Services Jammu, B S Pathania, Project Director AIDS Dr Saleem, Director Family Welfare, Baldev Raj Sharma, Director NHM, Dr. Mohan Singh, MD J&K Medical Supplies Dr Yash Paul Sharma, CMOs, Medical Superintendents and senior doctor and officers were also present.Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bali stressed the need for ensuring complete transparency, accountability and performance at all the levels to upgrade the existing services in the government hospitals. He said the government has accorded top priority to ensure better Medicare facilities to the ailing and suffering masses. He directed the concerned authorities to focus on the welfare of the patient by making neat and clean environment in the hospital premises. He further asked the Director Health Service to maintain discipline and punctuality in hospitals.

Bali Bhagat said that a number of district hospitals, SDH, PHC were upgraded in the state and all steps will be taken to provide adequate staff in these health institutions. He called upon the CMOs and Medical Superintendents to render their services with dedication and missionary zeal and also conduct regular meeting with concerned BMOs about the services being provided and also get in requisite feedback about implementation of various schemes.The Minister called upon the concerned authorities to ensure that the practice of referring patients to other hospitals should be done away with by providing the requisite medical health to them within their institutions.Ms Asiea called upon the medical fraternity to set new benchmarks to improve the quality of healthcare in the health institutions in the state. She said government mulls new mechanism to prevent pilferage of medicines in health institutions.Earlier, the Minister launched a cleanliness drive at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar under Swachh bharat Mission. The cleanliness drive will continue in all the health institutions across the state from 10th April to 17h April 2016 to ensure complete sanitation in and around hospital premises.
