Bollywood actor Anupam Kher was held up on Sunday morning at the Srinagar airport by Jammu and Kashmir Police when he reached there to meet the protesting students at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) - Srinagar. In a series of tweets, Kher expressed unhappiness over being stopped from entering Srinagar city. "I have been told by J&K police that I cannot enter Srinagar city at all. I have asked them to show me the orders. Still at the airport," he tweeted.Kher also added he was not even allowed to visit his ancestral home. "Asked J&K Police if I can visit my ancestral home or Kheer Bhawani temple. Even that is not allowed. Basically it is airport arrest," he tweeted.Tensions erupted between Kashmiri and non-local students at NIT campus over semi-finals match of the T20 world cup between India and the West Indies. Some Kashmiri students allegedly celebrated India's loss to the West Indies in the cricket match last week. Non-local students objected to the celebrations and countered them with their own demonstration in Team India's support. The non-local students alleged that they were beaten up by Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel. They are now demanding that the college should be shifted out to a safer place outside the Kashmir Valley.
