Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Baghat, on Sunday launched cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat Abiyan at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh Hospital Shalimar (SMGS), Jammu.The cleanliness drive will continue in all the health institutions across the state from 10th April to 17th April 2016 to ensure complete sanitation in and around the hospital premises, the Minister informed while asking the hospital functionaries to work with utmost zeal and dedication to make this mission a grand success.Bali said that Prime Minister Narinder Modi launched the Swachh Bharat Mission on 2nd October 2014 all over India with two parts Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) and Swachh Bharar Mission (Urban ) with an aim to achieve clean environment.
Secretary Health and Medical Education , MK Bandari , Principal GMC Jammu Dr. Zahid Gellani , Director Health Services Jammu Dr. BS Pathania ,MD J&K Medical Supplies Yashpal Sharma, Director HRM, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Medical Superintendents, Dr Ratan Pal and Dr. Dara Singh besides senior doctor and paramedical staff participated in the drive . Bali said that improvement of health care infrastructure especially in rural and far-flung areas is being accorded priority by the present government. He said that the pressure on secondary and tertiary care hospitals would decrease when rural health care institutions are up graded and modernized to cater to the requirements of the patients.The Minister asked the hospital authorities to maintain hygienic environment in and around the hospitals and provide best medicare to patients. He also called for ensuring accountability and transparency in their working.Later, the Minister visited various wards in GMC and SMGS and enquired about the facilities being provided to the patients there. He instructed the hospital administration to make every effort to ensure better health care services to the people.
Meanwhile, the Minister addressed a public meeting cum convention in Keran, Jammu and said that during the first tenure of the collation government unprecedented development has been witnessed in three regions of the state. He said that during a short span of time several projects pertaining to health, education, PHE, RDD and forest sectors were taken in hand. He urged upon the people to personally monitor works being executed in their respective areas.Responding to local demands, Bali said government is well abreast with the difficulties of the people of far-flung and backward areas and focused attention is being paid on mitigating the same. He added that special care is being taken to ensure that development projects match the requirements and needs of specific areas. He sought cooperation of the people in the efforts of the government in this regard.Among others present were Omi Khajuria, Ved Prakash Sharma and other public representatives.
