60 year old man dies in Harmulla Village after forces raid his house

A 60 year old man on Saturday died of cardiac arrest at Village Harmulla, Halsidar area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.According to KNS correspondent, locals alleged that during the intervening night of Friday-Saturday forces raided Abdul Gani Naikoo’s residential house during which he was beaten ruthlessly by the Army personnel.Locals alleged that forces Personnel raided Abdul Ghani Naikoo, son of Ghulam Muhammad Naikoo’s house at around12:05 am and beat him. "He died of cardiac arrest later"According to KNS correspondent, locals shouldered his dead body towards Kogund Verinag. However, police intercepted them and didn’t allow them to pass through the road.Soon after police’s interception, clashes erupted between youth and forces at Kogund and Nowgam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district while police resorted to tear smoke shells to disperse the agitated protesters.

Meanwhile, according to reports, refuting the allegations of beating an old man Abdul Ghani Naik in Halmulla, Gawas in Karan area by the Army, an official spokesman said that during the intervening night of 8th and 9th April,2016, an information was received by Army regarding the presence of two militants in village Halmulla Gawas, Halsidar.The information was shared with police and subsequently a cordon and search operation was launched by 19 RR and Police component Anantnag.During search operation, some noise was heard emanating from the house of Abdul Ghani Naikoo. When the forces approached the house they found the above mentioned person unconscious.The person, who was frail and aged, was evacuated for treatment but he expired on the way to hospital.The dead body was handed over to legal heirs after post-mortem.
