Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat Saturday visited Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and took stock of the functioning of the Emergency wards.Secretary, Health and Medical Education M. K. Bandari, Principal GMC, Jammu Dr. Zahid Geelani, Managing Director J&K Medical Supplies Dr. Yash Paul Sharma, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Ex-Engineer Mechanical Wing GMC and senior functionaries accompanied the Minister during his visit.The Minister directed the concerned officers to take adequate steps to improve facilities in the emergence wards and provide proper healthcare. Stressing on making requisite infrastructural and logistic improvements in the emergency wards, Mr Bhagat asked the concerned to check out feasibility of clubbing the  new emergency ward with old one to avoid de-congestion and improve medicare. He also asked the concerned to submit a plan for taking up construction of an additional emergency block in the GMC. Executive engineer Mechanical Division GMC was directed to take up construction of sheds in the GMC premises for the convenience of the attendants  and for  chalking  out a proposal for construction of multi-storied parking  to facilitate the patients and faculty.Later the Minister also visited the Drug store and instructed MD, JKMSCL to ensure proper coding of the medicines to prevent pilferage of medicines.
