Addressing a large gathering of students and faculty members of GHG Har Parkash College of Education, Sidhwan Khurd, near here, Prof Gurbhajan Gill, former President of Punjabi Sahitya Akademi, Ludhiana said that communication with inner self was vital before exchanging any communication with the fellow beings. Communication was a continuous process throughout one’s life he said, adding that one’s mother tongue had an enormous power of encyclopedic knowledge that had the power of knowing each other through the ‘third eye’. He was deliberating on the subject of ‘developmental communication’. He forcefully highlighted that one could derive immense knowledge and light from our cultural traditions of the motherland, and when blended with the knowledge acquired from rest of the world, one could enter into a purposeful developmental communication with others.
Whereas one should not ignore physical development, but holistic human was much more important that it, observed Prof Gill. In our contemporary society, two major problems were growing materialism and the growing intolerance. If five centuries ago, our gurus could hold parleys with Sidhs to discuss contemporary intriguing issues, then why we are shedding tolerance. Growing intolerance was disastrous for nationism, remarked Prof Gill. He lauded the GHG institutes saying that these have played a pioneer role in women empowerment through education in rural areas, in the country. While saying that he always hold these institutes in great esteem, Prof Gurbhajan Gill distributed scholarships to 20 brilliant students.Earlier, Dr Baljit Kaur Gill, the College Principal welcomed Prof Giill and other guests.
