World Health Day :DIG, SKR flagged off marathon race

To celebrate the “World Health Day” Deputy Inspector General of Police Range South Kashmir Nitish Kumar flagged off a Marathon race organized by State Police under Civic Action Programme (CAP) in Anantnag today.300 students from all the districts of South Kashmir participated in Marathon conveying the message run for health. The marathon started from Water Plant Bumzoo, Mattan to Dak Bungalow Khanabal. In the competition, Yawar Younis Ganaie son of Late Mohammad Younis resident of Membder, Shopian bagged the first position, Muzaffar Rasool son of Ghulam Rasool resident of Reshinagar Shopian and Manzoor Bashir son of Bashir Ahmad resident of Yaripora, Kulgam bagged 2nd and 3rdpositions respectively. They were awarded with certificates and trophies by DIG South Kashmir.Speaking on the conclusion of the event, DIG said that in order to stay healthy and fit, people should choose to run every day as it does not require expertise, specialized equipment and is free and accessible to all.SSP Anantnag Abdul Jabbar while speaking on the occasion said that organizing the marathon event on the world health day was aimed to attract people particularly young generation towards the running for their physical and mental fitness.
