Under National AYUSH Mission, Department of Indian Systems of Medicine (AYUSH) is organizing a series of awareness programs in far-off villages for the promotion of AYUSH systems of health care and healthy lifestyles, as per the guidelines of Director General ISM, J&K Dr. Abdul Kabir Dar.With the mandate of spreading the message of “HEALTHY LIVING” especially in rural and unreached areas under National AYUSH Mission, AYUSH awareness programs was organized in a remote village Samote Block Kotranka Buddhal, District Rajouri in collaboration with 60-RR of Indian Army. The program was jointly inaugurated by Col. Pradeep Karik and Dr. Rohit Gupta in presence of Assistant District Medical Officer, Rajouri Dr. Z.A Shah and Sarpanch. Mohd. Iqbal of Village Panchayat Samote.In this program, a team of experts headed by Dr. Rohit Gupta, Nodal Officer, National AYUSH Mission, Jammu Division delivered public awareness lectures on various health issues. Dr. Rohit Gupta briefed public about AYUSH systems and their strengths in health promotion and disease prevention. Public was also made aware about the various components of National AYUSH Mission.

Dr. Aftab Iqbal Mir expert in Medicinal Plants Sector highlighted importance of various medicinal plants available in the area and various opportunities for farming communities in Medicinal Plant Sector. IEC Material on Medicinal plants with their health benefits was also distributed among the public.Dr. Arun Gupta, Expert in Yoga and Wellness delivered a lecture on Dincharya (Daily health regimen), Ritucharya (Seasonal Healthy Regimen), Yogcharya and sadvrit (Yogic regimen and moral regimen of healthy living) for health promotion. A demonstration of common yogasans was also made.While speaking on the occasion, Col. Pardeep Karik emphasised upon importance of AYUSH systems for maintaining a sustainable health and prevention of serious diseases and urged public to avail AYUSH services available in the area. He also appreciated the efforts of the department of Indian Systems of Medicine, for organizing such programs in remote villages and assured full co-operation in future also.Assistant District Medical Officer, Rajouri, Dr. Shah thanked the gathering. Later on, awareness program was followed by a free AYUSH Medical aid camp at Village Samote wherein team of doctors and paramedics from District Rajouri comprising Dr. Swarn Singh, Dr. Gulzar Ahmed and Dr. Maroof alongwith paramedical staff examined and treated 427 patients.
