Inhabitants of several old city areas Saturday staged protest against the recently implemented National Food Security Act (NFSA) and were demanding rollback of the law.The inhabitants of various areas including Kani Kadal, Chota Bazar, Karfali Mohalla, Habba Kadal and Zaindar Mohalla took to streets and blocked the main bridge in the area. While blocking the roads, the angry protesters were chanting slogans like ‘we want justice’. The protesters after blocking the bridge were not allowing any vehicle to ply thereby resulted in the massive traffic jam in the area. While talking to KNS, the protesting residents said that the government has miserably failed to come up to their expectations. “We are expecting benefits from the government but unfortunately they instead of benefits are making our survival difficult,” the residents said. They said that the government should soon rollback the recently implemented law in the state for the well-being of people. ‘Authorities should look into the matter soon so that the hardships faced by the people here will end,’ they said.Despite increasing the ration quota from 5kgs to 7gs, the people across the state continue to stage protests against the government and are demanding its rollback.
