Asia’s prime Tulip Garden is always on the soft track for attracting scores of tourists across globe with its glowing allure. On past months 15th of
March the Jammu and Kashmir’s Department of Floriculture throws open “Indra Gandhi Memorial”, “Bhag-e-Gul-e-Lala” or “Siraj Bagh” for
thousands of nature-lovers. It has grown to be the chief attraction for the people of the state, national as well as foreign visitors.Known for his colourful sceneries over 1.3 million exotic tulips are planted every year post winter spells in Kashmir. The tulips of 70 varieties adorn and add colour to the landscape at 5,600 feet altitude spreading at around 15 hectares in Zabarwan hill ranges.During this season officials organize various other events along with the tulip festival and provide business for handicrafts for the local craftsmen,offer a wide variety of folk dances and songs that the visitors love to watch. One can also enjoy the different Kashmiri cuisine that is prepared locally and is favorite among the tourists.
The Tulip festival in Kashmir has been well accepted by the tourists and has become quite an attraction for tourists who love to visit the scenic place of Srinagar. “It seems dream comes true, I was always curious about visiting the paradise on earth and for mostly to visit Tulip Garden in Srinagar,” said.Kavita a domestic tourist visiting Kashmir for the first time.“Truly it feels like the breath got stopped while I enter into this garden and witnesses enormous number of colourful tulips,” another tourist added while talking to 5 Dariya News Correspondent based in Srinagar.Meaanwhile, In the year 2007 former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad inaugurated the garden with the aim to boost floriculture and promote tourism in valley. In the year 2014, it was declared as the second best Tulip Garden in the world by World Tulip Summit Society.
