Though the ration quota has already brought anger among the valley residents and are taking streets to mark protests against the government, the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) department here have placed the slum dwellers of Rakh colony Noorbagh under Above Poverty Line (APL) category.While talking to KNS, Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan, Congress leader who fought 2014 assembly election from Eidgah, said that the slum dwellers who are living in tents here have been placed under APL category.
He said that the officials who have placed the slum dwellers under APL category should think over it whether the slum dwellers are worth to be in the same category or not. “We are human beings and such kind of things shouldn’t take place especially in Kashmir. Our humanity is famous throughout the world but such kind of things can defame our humanity,” he said.Khan told KNS that CA&PD department has miserably failed to do justice with the people living across Kashmir. “The officials are using tactics by which people of Kashmir are facing tremendous hardships,” he said.He later appealed the authorities to look into the matter soon.
