JKPCC Chief G. A. Mir has said that the return and rehabilitation of Kashmir migrants with the dignity, in an atmosphere of harmony, safety and security is the most challenging and unfinished task, for which one and all those interested in the welfare and restoration of the pristine glory of Kashmiryat need to play a positive and proactive role.Addressing a day long executive meet of the PCC migrant cell at PCC HQ here today, Mir Said the Kashmir and Kashmiryat is incomplete without the return and rehabilitation of Kashmir migrants especially the minority community as the age old secular credentials of Kashmir are under question without the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri pandits to their native land, with dignity in an atmosphere, where they feel adequate sense of safety and security to their lives and property as well their religious rights . He said that the exodus of Kashmiri pandits from the valley is a blot on the secular tradition and religious brotherhood, for which Kashmir and Kashmiryat is known and their return is unfinished agenda and challenge to all political dispensations in the country and state, as well as those who believe in the secular values of the country.

Mir was Chief Guest on the occasion which was presided over by the chairman of the PCC migrant cell Hira Lal Pandita. Senior leaders of PCC who attended includes Vice–presidents Mula Ram, G.N.Munga (MLC), Kanta Bhan, Ravinder Sharma, Farooq Andrabi, Vikram Malhotra, Anil Chopra and Abid Kashmiri.

Mir said that the Congress party did its utmost to look after the interests of the Kashmiri migrants and made efforts aimed their welfare, return and rehabilitation although nothing can compensate their agony, suffering and pain , of being away from their native places. He said although efforts were made from time to time by the Govts. of the day for their welfare and return but creation of congenial atmosphere is not solely possible at the Govt. and political level alone without active role of civil society by all and those who believes that without their return and rehabilitation, the kashmiri culture and kashmiryat is incomplete Mir also appealed to the Kashmir migrants to make efforts to rebuild their social and cultural relations in Kashmir, in order to help create an atmosphere of harmony and brotherhood to help and fecilitate efforts for creating a desired atmosphere in this regard.

Extending full support to the genuine issue of the displaced Kashmiri migrants Mir asked the migrant cell of the party to redouble their efforts to strengthen the bonds at the grass root level to help resolve their problems and win back their confidence in the policies and programmes of the Congress party. The party has remained on the forefront for their cause and would help redress their genuine issues. The meeting held threadbare discussion on the numerous problems and demands of displaced community. The major concern of the displaced people highlighted on the occasion included provision of ration at the old scale as the migrants are provided relief and ration out of the security related expenditure ,speedy implementation of PM’s employment package, in force for last 8 years , bifurcation of ration cards to the migrants be made easy and time bound, backward certificate be issued to migrants as per past practice, the shrine bill be passed without delay , inclusion of whole migrants children upto 10 plus with full relief benefits , the relief money for newly born babies enhanced from Rs.400 to Rs.1500 PM.Prominent those who spokes included:- M.N. Pandita (Vice Chairman), Gh. Qadir Bhat (convenier), Shadi Lal Pandita (Co-Convener), Smt. Kiran Raina (General secretary), Ajay Bharti (Joint Secretary), Karan Chowdery (Joint Secretary ), Avtar Kirshan Raina, Romesh Bhat, C.L. Raina, Bansi Lal Raina, M.L.
